We are a Rural Events & Wedding Venue designed for the Scottish weather, lochside, inside or both the choice is yours.
The Barns and Steadings retain many of the original features and fixtures, honouring the rustic atmosphere but with plenty of scope to put your own stamp on it, giving Cardney Steading Events a truly special feeling.
Our spectacular scenery gives you endless ideas and photo opportunities.
The Cattle Shed is a contemporary space that’s been lovingly restored to preserve its rustic barn character. Natural light pours in through the large sliding doors, revealing stunning views out onto the loch, woodlands and beyond.
As versatile as it is impressive, the Cattle Shed’s charming whitewashed walls are a completely blank canvas - ready for your imagination to bring to life. This is our largest indoor venue space making it ideal for your wedding breakfast and it can easily hold 250 lively guests for an evening’s dancing!
When you look a little closer, you’ll find that the barn isn’t without its surprises. Don’t forget to ask about the new uses we’ve found for its original features when you join us for your first visit.
168m2 | Seats up to 160 dinner guests (round tables) or 180 (banquet tables) / Holds 250 standing
Cosy and intimate aren’t words you’d usually use to describe a traditional, stone-built mill house. But this endearing space manages to combine rustic-grandeur with a home-from-home feel. Enjoy all the character of a rustic barn wedding and still have a small ceremony with close family and friends. Large double doors open directly onto the central courtyard area, giving you the freedom to transform the space throughout your day.
During the day, natural light pours in through the full-height windows, bathing the stone walls and original beams in light. At night, the space comes to life under the warm glow of festoon lighting hanging from the Mill’s original grain threshers.
When you stand in the Old Mill and listen to the water rushing by in the burn outside, there’s a calming, almost spiritual feel to the place. Which is why, perhaps, it lends itself well to faith-based ceremonies and a traditional Scot’s tying of the hands, alike.
78m2 | Seats up to 80 dinner guests (round or banquet tables ) / Seats up to 120 for ceremonies
If you’ve always dreamed of a waterside wedding, then you’ll fall in love all over again by the Cardney Loch. Set at the foot of Craig More, the tranquil lochside offers breathtaking views on a summer’s day and a dramatic backdrop in wilder weathers. You can capture the most stunning photographs when dark clouds gather over the glen.
The Lochside is easily accessible from the indoor parts of the venue, so there’s no long walk or rough ground for your guests to navigate. This space creates an ideal location for your reception drinks also.
When you stand by the lochside and look across the water, you can almost make out a small clearing in the trees. Just a short walk over the bridge and up a winding path will bring you into the Woodland Clearing. Like everything at Cardney, the clearing feels like you’re a million miles from anywhere yet it’s just steps away from the main venue. And it’s filled with hidden photo opportunities, from fallen trees to ancient stones, making it the perfect place to capture unique woodland wedding photographs or even have your ceremony.
Our unique bar sits at the heart of the steading, serving both the inside and outdoor courtyard. Open and inviting, the bar connects all the main areas of the venue to give your day a relaxed and sociable feel. And although we’ve restored many of the space’s original fittings and quirks, we’ve taken care to include all the luxuries of a modern venue.
The Courtyard is partially covered by a glass canopy, making it a fabulous space for outdoor catering, late-night dancing or drinking and reminiscing. So whatever the weather, nothing will dampen your spirits (except, maybe, a dash of tonic).
Love surprises? Escape through the back of the bar area and warm yourself by the Fire Pit. Perfect for catching up and toasting marshmallows, hidden from the world. This little woodland clearing sits in the wake of Craig More, where children and adults gather to hear tales from its mysterious ‘Spooky Valley’.
When your wedding-day-glow needs a little topping up or you just need a break between dances, slip off to the Powder Room. Tucked away in the old stable block, this glamorous sanctuary is fully equipped with everything you need to reapply those finishing touches. Secure and lockable, it doubles as a safe place for special gifts and valuables while the party is in full swing.
Set right by the lochside, The Lodge is a social space with a broad veranda offering unrivalled views of the estate, the loch and the surrounding hills. With so much to do on the estate, from clay-pigeon shooting and archery to hiking and horse-riding (yes, your horse is welcome too!) you can easily turn your wedding into a relaxing weekend with family and friends. Using the Lodge as a base, you can make the most of your time together while keeping the main venue under wraps for your big day.
The Lodge has a woodburning stove, comfy couches and a dining table to seat 18. Ideal for a welcome dinner the night before or a lazy brunch the morning after.
If you were expecting posh-portable toilets, a surprise waits behind the old stable doors at Cardney. From the start, we knew we wanted our guests to enjoy a truly 5-star experience, so you’ll find both our Ladies’ and Gents’ toilets meet the same standards as the rest of the venue. With the same creative flair, of course! The stable block also has disabled toilet facilities with baby changing and a separate lockable cloakroom.
Ample on-site car parking is provided.
With hard packing, beautiful paving and contoured landscaping our entire site is wheelchair and mobility friendly.
Overnight parking available.
Why not share your big day with your four-legged best friend. With our stunning countryside setting, we are ideally placed for you to bring along your furry friend or even ride your horse down the aisle!
